Balagokulam Bharat, Hyderabad Chapter, celebrated its Varshikotsav (Annual Day) in the premises of G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Sciences (GNITS), Shaikpet, Hyderabad on Nov 30th 2014. The event was attended by more than 2500 people (Balika – 700, Bala – 500, Mahila – 750, Purush – 550) from 37 Balagokulams which are held in various gated communities across the entire city.
The theme of this year’s event was “Colors of Bharat”. Children participated, with great interest and enthusiasm, in the various colourful cultural events and competitions such as games, quiz, yoga, coloring etc. organized on the above theme. The excitement of the children was evident from their breath-taking performances in various competitions. For example, in the Vrukshasan competition, a single winner could not be announced because all the finalists remained in the asan pose for more than 20 mins demonstrating their focus and concentration.
One of the main attractions of the evening was the group chanting of Bhagavad Gita Fifteenth Chapter (Purushottama Prapti Yoga) by more than 1000 children who were gathered in a beautiful formation. The Peethadhipathi of Pushpagiri Math, H.H Sri Vidya Nrusimha Bharathee Swamiji, presided as the chief guest for the occassion. In his aashirvachan speech, the Swamiji applauded the children for learning the Panchama Veda – Gita and beautifully chanting the verses in a group. He remarked that Bhagavad Gita will greatly help in children’s character building and will also mould them into better human beings. He also congratulated the organizers for taking up this endeavor.
The creator of the famous animation series Chota Bheem and Krishna – Rajiv Chilaka attended the event, along with Chota Bheem, as a guest of honor. The children were delighted to directly see their favorite animation character. They flocked around him and thoroughly enjoyed his dance moves.
Value Parenting Workshop
The event also offered a great learning experience for the parents through a workshop on “Value Oriented Parenting”. The panelists of the workshop included some eminent personalities from the education field such as Smt. Anjali Razdan (Principal, P Obul Reddy Public School), Sri Pradeep Kumar, Professor, IIIT, Hyderabad and K S Sharma, Director, Neemus Education. The panelists suggested that the greatest
gift any parent can give to their kid is “values” and parents should realize this and make an effort to pass on values to their children through their “actions and behavior” instead of mere lecturing.
Cultural Events & Ekatmata Stotra
The grand finale of the event was a cultural performance depicting the luminaries of Bharat, in various fields, as mentioned in the Ekatmata Stotra. Starting with the great women of our country, artists, kings, freedom fighters, poets, etc., the various personalities were enacted by children who dressed up like them.
